A disabled farmer is lucky to be alive after flames engulfed his remote cottage home in Cornwall. Firefighters battled the blaze after the man called for help using his two way radio. The elderly occupant, who uses the walkie talkie to stay in contact with workers in his fields, suffers from mobility problems and was confined to his chair. With no other means by which to raise the alarm, it was later conceeded by firefighters that his two way radio "undoubtedly saved his life."
